Planning a summer vacation often turns into a real dilemma: go in July to guarantee hot sun and warm sea, or wait until September to avoid the crowds and save money?

Zatoka is one of the few resorts in Ukraine where the "velvet season" lasts quite a long time and has its own unique charm. To help you make the right decision, we have analyzed in detail the two most popular formats of holidays in Zatoka in 2026: the peak of summer (July-August) and the velvet season (September).

1. Weather and Sea: Heat vs. Comfort

July – August (Peak season): This is the time for those who love true southern heat. Daytime air temperatures consistently stay around +30... +35°C. The sun is very active, so staying on the beach from 12:00 to 16:00 is not recommended. The main bonus of this period is the sea. The water warms up to the state of "warm milk" (+25... +28°C). You can sit in such water for hours, which is ideal for small children. The risk of storms is minimal, the sea is usually calm.

September (Velvet season): September in Zatoka is famous for its mild, gentle sun. The air temperature drops to a comfortable +23... +26°C. Tans lay more evenly and last longer, and the risk of sunburn is sharply reduced. The water in the sea slowly cools down and in the first half of September stays at a pleasant +21... +23°C. However, it gets chilly in the evenings, so you'll have to grab a light jacket or sweater for evening walks along the coast.

2. Prices and Budget: Maximum vs. Savings

July – August: This is a time of maximum demand, and therefore, the highest prices. Hotels, restaurants, and entertainment operate at peak rates. A "Comfort" category room will cost an average of 2000-3000 UAH per day. You need to book good options 2-3 months in advance, otherwise you'll have to settle for leftovers at an inflated price.

September: From September 1, a period of global price drops begins. Most hotels automatically switch to "Low Season" rates. Accommodation discounts range from 30% to 50%! For the same money that you would spend in August on a cramped room in the private sector, in September you can rent a luxurious room in a modern hotel with a pool. Prices in markets also drop (the season for local watermelons, melons, and grapes for pennies arrives) and in some cafes.

3. Atmosphere and Infrastructure: Party vs. Relax

July – August: Zatoka lives at maximum revs. On weekends, the resort's population increases to 100-150 thousand people. Pros: Absolutely everything is working — from nightclubs with famous DJs to amusement parks and small souvenir shops. Life boils until dawn. Cons: Huge crowds on the beaches (taking a spot near the water on the Central Beach after 9 am is a problem). Traffic jams at the entrance and exit of the resort. Music from bars interferes with sleep if your windows face a busy street.

September: With the start of the school year, 80% of tourists (especially families with schoolchildren and students) leave the resort. Zatoka exhales and transforms. Pros: Half-empty, endless beaches. No one is walking on your head, you can enjoy the sound of the waves, not the music from the neighboring speaker. No queues in restaurants. In the morning, dolphins more often swim to the shore, as they are no longer frightened away by hundreds of motorboats and jet skis. Cons: By mid-September, many summer cafes, nightclubs, and water attractions begin to close. The resort prepares for winter.

When Should You Go? Summing Up

Choose July and August if you:

  • Are traveling with preschool or primary school children and need the warmest possible sea.
  • Love noisy companies, nightclubs, meeting people, and beach parties.
  • Want to fully utilize the resort's infrastructure (water park, excursions, water sports).

Choose September if you:

  • Do not tolerate intense heat well and are looking for a comfortable climate for health improvement.
  • Want to take a break from people and city noise, looking for privacy and relaxation.
  • Want to stay in a premium hotel for reasonable money, saving significantly on accommodation.

Regardless of which month you choose, Zatoka is always ready to give you wonderful memories. Our hotel welcomes guests from early May to late September.
